Professor in Control Engineering/Signal Processing
The Kongsberg Campus of Buskerud University College is located in Kongsberg and comprises 800 students and a staff of 75. It encompasses three departments: The Department of Technology, The Department of Optometry and Visual Science, and The Department of Economy, Management and Social sciences. The campus is located in walking distance from Kongsberg town centre and 80 km. from Oslo.
The Department of Technology, Kongsberg, offers Bachelor programs in Audio Engineering, Embedded Systems, Control Engineering, Mechatronics and Product Design. Master degrees are offered in Embedded Systems and Systems Engineering (with specialization in Control and Signal Processing, Product Design and Systems Engineering). The department also offers numerous courses.
Applicants are invited for the position of Professor in Control Engineering/Signal Processing. The impetus for combining Signal Processing and Control Engineering is to reflect the needs of local industry and capitalize on the common core of the two disciplines.
The professorship is in the Systems Engineering Group at the Department of Technology.
The professor will be engaged in the Systems Engineering Groups teaching, research and extensive collaboration with industry and academia. The Systems Engineering Group is playing a major role in the Kongsberg activity as a Norwegian Centre of Expertise – Systems Engineering. The master program in Systems Engineering offered by the Department of Technology represents a unique collaboration with the major industries in Kongsberg – and the professor will play a major role in developing this program in cooperation with our partner – STEVENS Institute of Technology in USA.
Applicants must have an earned doctorate and an established research track record. Candidates should have a clear vision for providing leadership in research and instructional program development. Qualities, such as pedagogical skills, team-work capabilities and academic or industrial experience are highly valued. Kongsberg has several high technology companies and the successful applicant will be expected to take an active role in industrial liaison and research cooperation. The department is developing a Master's degree in “Control and Signal Processing”, so experience from areas such as Adaptive Filters, System Identification, Estimation will be an asset.
General pay and working conditions are regulated by the Central Collective Agreement for employees in the service of the State, entered into by the State represented by the Ministry of Labour and Public Administration, and State Employees’ Unions and the Norwegian union of teachers.
Total remuneration for a Professor depends on qualifications and is currently valued in the range from NOK 467.900 – NOK 664.800 pa.
A pension contribution of 2 % is to be deducted in pursuance of the Public Service Pension Fund Act.
It is a political aim that the staff should reflect the composition of the population at large, as far as sex and cultural background is concerned. Women and cultural minorities are therefore encouraged to apply.
The application will be assessed by specialist before a report is submitted by the selection board with the power of recommendation
