Design and fabrication of polymeric microfluidi...

Design and fabrication of polymeric microfluidic devices A position within the design and fabrication of automated microfluidic devices for use in the chemical, biochemical and medical field is open at the Danish Technological Institute. The key tasks will be design and fabrication of Microsystems that will be applied in the field advanced cancer treatment, drug detection and stem cell research. A strong background in the field of chemical or mechanical engineering with focus at fluid dynamics is necessary.Your jobYou will be involved in the design and fabrication, of fully automated and integrated microfluidic devices, which will be applied in chemical, biochemical and medical applications. You will be involved into the - computational design and simulation of fluidic structures, - laser assisted fabrication of polymeric and non polymeric prototypes, - integration of miniaturized standard operations like pumping, separation, - implementation of complex biological assaysYou will be part of a highly interdisciplinary team and will be involved in research and development projects dealing with f.e. advanced cancer treatment, drug detection and stem cell research.  QualificationsA solid background in the fields of chemical or mechanical engineering is desired. Knowledge in the field of computational fluid dynamics and CAE will be of advantage and experience in the field of microfluidic applications or fabrication processes will also be beneficial for your work. But most important a strong motivation for the collaboration between different backgrounds covering physics, electronics, chemistry, biochemistry, and medicine is demanded. About the Danish Technological InstituteThe Institute is a private non-profit organization with a mission to promote growth, efficient use of resources as well as enhancement of the quality of life. The Institute performs evaluations, certifications and development work. Several activities are performed in connection with research projects with public support and industrial participation. The Institute is certified by the Danish government to perform technological service for industry and public agencies. The Centre for Microtechnology and Surface Analysis is actively involved in research projects, development activities and characterization tasks. The Centre project portfolio is steadily increasing evolving until new exciting grounds of nano- and micro technology including among other things clean room processes. The R&D work at DTI is always carried out in collaboration with companies and university partners with a strong focus on devising viable solutions to industrially relevant problems. That type of collaboration is surely challenging in its own right. Our next nano step and collaboration partnership may be defined by you!The centre is well equipped for laser assisted surface structuring and surface treatments. Lately, the centre has become heavily involved in microfluidic prototyping. You can read more at www.dti.dk/6158.
