Design of surface structures: functions and est...

Design of surface structures: functions and esthetics  Centre for Microtechnology and Surface Analysis at the Danish Technological Institute is seeking a highly qualified person to work on surface structuring in order to tailor specific optical and functional properties. Applications are within health care, consumer products, and sensors.Your jobYour job will be to model, design, and implement surface structures that provides for specific optical and functional properties, which are difficult or impossible to achieve by traditional coatings. This could be diffractive structures that provides for special colors or image formation. Structuring may also provide for drastic enhancement of resistance to surface contaminants. The applications are products for health care, consumer products, entertainment, and sensors.   QualificationsA Ph.D. or equivalent is required. A solid background within either diffractive optics, surface physics is essential and it is preferable that the applicant has experience with implementations and also modeling. You have a strong motivation for devising applicable solutions. The position requires extensive collaboration with people of different backgrounds covering solid state physics, chemistry, information technology, electronics, and health care.  About the Danish Technological InstituteThe Institute is a private non-profit organization with a mission to promote growth, efficient use of resources as well as enhancement of the quality of life. The Institute performs evaluations, certifications and development work. Several activities are performed in connection with research projects with public support and industrial participation. The Institute is certified by the Danish government to perform technological service for industry and public agencies. The Centre for Microtechnology and Surface Analysis is actively involved in research projects, development activities and characterization tasks. The Centre project portfolio is steadily increasing evolving until new exciting grounds of nano- and micro technology including among other things clean room processes. The R&D work at DTI is always carried out in collaboration with companies and university partners with a strong focus on devising viable solutions to industrially relevant problems. That type of collaboration is surely challenging in its own right. Our next nano step and collaboration partnership may be defined by you!The Centre is well equipped for surface analysis, surface structuring, and surface treatments. Lately, the Centre has become heavily involved in surface engineering, sensors, and wireless technology. You can read more at www.dti.dk/6158.
