Engineer for development of journal bearing,Bearing Design
The Research & Development department is looking for an all-round mechanical engineer, for converting measurement and calculation results to a specific design of journal bearings. Today, the bearings are analyzed systematically with in-house ElastroHydroDynamic software. The results are demonstrated sporadically with measurements. The methods for both calculation and measurement are being developed continuously. There is a strong mutual dependency between e.g. bearings, engine structure, crankshaft dynamic, shaft alignment, and material properties, and therefore the design work is done in close cooperation with specialists within these areas. The development work will take place at our test centre in Copenhagen, at measurements on engine components at licensees, or on sea trial on board vessels all over the world, which is why some travelling activities can be expected. You will be working in a technically versatile department, where there is a strong tradition for dilating on adjacent technical subjects. Tasks:• Design and development of bearings for our large diesel engines.• Development of measuring methods for verification of design and analysis tools.• Measurements of e.g. oil film thickness and bearing geometry.• Participation in material development e.g. fatigue strength of bearing materials. • Measure/analyze oil flow/pressure as boundary condition for bearing performance.• Contact to licensees and sub-suppliers.• In the long run, participate all-round in the working areas of the department.Qualifications:• Theoretically and practically well-founded mechanical engineer (Ph.D., Bachelor of Engineering or Master of Engineering)• Some experience with and interest in journal bearings is required.• Ingenuity and ability regarding measuring techniques is also required• Strong analytical flair• Knowledge of EHD calculations is an advantage• Knowledge of lubricating oil and bearing materials• Excellent intercultural skillsWe offer:• An all-round and exciting job with good personal and professional development possibilities in an international environment.• Salary according to qualifications and pension scheme • Flexible working hoursWork place: Teglholmsgade 41, 2450 Copenhagen SV (just 40 min by car from Malmö)Further information about the company can be found on www.mandiesel.com Information about the job can be acquired by contacting Mr Per Rønnedal,phone +******or e-mail: ******.
