Job description: The Department of Business and Economics, Odense, invites applications for one or more vacant professorships with special responsibilities in International Economics, to be filled as soon as possible. The professorships are limited to a period of 5 years with the possibility of extension.The successful applicant(s) will be part of the department’s Economics Group. The group currently comprises twelve academic staff members and six PhD students, conducting research within the broad areas of international economics and applied microeconomics, as well as econometrics and statistics applied in these fields. In addition, the group collaborates with researchers from other departments at the Faculty of Social Sciences as well as from other domestic and foreign institutions. The department is responsible for teaching economics and econometrics to BSc and MSc in Economics, Business Administration and Mathematical Economics, and to a number of supplementary education programmes. Applicants will be assessed according to their record of achievement in research at international level in the broad field of international economics, including open macroeconomics, international trade, and development economics. Applicants must be able to document a high level of original scientific production of international standard and must have contributed to the development of the academic field. Furthermore, applicants should have experience with research management, and they are expected to have been supervisor for PhD students. Finally, substantial teaching experience in the fields of economics at undergraduate and graduate levels is required. The successful applicant is expected to further develop the research and teaching activities within the broadly defined area of international economics. She/he should act as a kind of research manager for the group, respecting the individual researcher’s right to free research. She/he is expected to extract external funding, and the successful applicant is expected to take part in the Economics Group’s teaching. The University of Southern Denmark is a modern, multi-campus university with more than 1,000 researchers and 17,000 students in a wide variety of scientific disciplines. The Department of Business and Economics is located at the main campus in Odense, which with approximately 186,000 inhabitants is the third-largest city of Denmark. The salary will correspond to LR 37 (pay bracket 37).
