Maersk Oil is in the process of adjusting the organisation in order to prepare for future growth. The new Corporate Technology and Projects (CTP) department will be responsible for field development activities and for building and maintaining Maersk Oil's technological excellence within petroleum engineering, drilling, engineering and project management disciplines. The new Corporate Petroleum Engineering department in CTP, will be responsible for ensuring that Maersk Oil has top-quartile petroleum engineering capabilities (people skills, workflows and technologies) and adequate staff numbers, to deliver its business plans and realise its strategic aspirations.The positionCorporate Petroleum Engineering is looking to fill a position as Chief Reservoir Engineer with a dual role as functional discipline head responsible for leadership and direction to the discipline community at the same time as offering discipline support during the maturation end execution of projects. The successful candidate will be working in the Corporate Petroleum Engineering department, reporting to the Department Head. Work will primarily be carried out in Copenhagen, with occasional travel to other Maersk Oil locations. Qualifications and Profile of Candidate • Deep specialist knowledge with 15+ years of relevant upstream experience and practised competences in 1 or 2 of its sub-disciplines.• Practised competences in integrated team work or projects in 2 or more phases of the EP lifecycle: e.g. Exploration, Appraisal, FDP or Well and Reservoir Surveillance/Management.• Demonstrated experience and interest in the development and mentoring of specialist staff.• A broad understanding of the EP business, preferably from 2 or more regions.• Interest in novel/innovative technology development and implementation• Ability to effectively represent MOG externally at industry conferences etc.• Good communication and social skills, effective across a broad spectrum of nationalities and cultures.There will be two main areas of responsibilities Functional and Project related: Functional responsibilities:• Provide leadership and direction to the companywide reservoir engineering community. • Agree and define, with the discipline community, a set of corporate standards and guidelines to provide a basis for assuring the quality of deliverables.• Ensure that these standards and guidelines are shared and implemented across MOG in a timely manner.• Manage, with other chief discipline geoscientists and engineers, a MOG technical authority system.• Map and track the health and capacity of the discipline community in term of numbers and competence levels to support MOG business plans• Work with HR and operating organizations on how to attract, develop, reward and deploy reservoir engineers across MOG.• Identify discipline training requirements and development options.• Foster cross-fertilisation and workflow integration between the various geosciences and PE disciplines (Geophysics, Geology, Petrophysics, Reservoir Engineering and Production Technology).• Identify the key technologies and applications thereof MOG will require in the future, and support their development and implementation.• Set up and maintain, with other disciplines and IT, the (shared) data, information and Knowledge Management systems to support the core technical workflows and discipline communities.
