The Royal Institute of Technology (Kungliga Tekniska högskolan, KTH) provides one third of Sweden’s technical research and training of engineers at university level. The School of Biotechnology at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm is offering a professorship/ division-head in bioproduction technology.
The School of Biotechnology focuses on multidisciplinary research and research education and offers also undergraduate and graduate education. The school has nine divisions with about 220 employees, all located at AlbaNova University Center. The biotechnology research within the school is on an internationally well-recognized level.

School of Biotechnology

The candidate is expected to lead the division of Bioproduction Technology by developing its research strategy, recruiting junior faculty members and obtaining financial support from national research councils, industry and EU. The subject bioproduction technology includes process development for recombinant protein production with particular emphasis on the design of bioprocesses. The subject includes development and screening of expression vectors and host cells, optimization of cultivation parameters and the development of scalable production and separation processes.
Scientific and pedagogical skills within the subject area are most the important qualification criteria.
Particular emphasis will be given to the ability to conduct independent research of documented high scientific quality with a broad competence in the field of bioprocess development and the knowledge to design production systems all the way from genetic constructions to fermentation control and product purification schemes. Experience in recombinant protein production in E. coli and yeast is required and experience of mammalian or other animal cell technologies is considered additionally qualifying.
Experience with industrial collaborations and a documented ability to obtain funding from research councils, EU frameworks and industry is of great importance.
The employment requires documented competence in teaching and tutoring within the subject area. Leadership qualities, demonstrated through previous experience in the heading of activities on a scientific high level, will be considered additionally qualifying.
